Oilseeds North America
Louis Dreyfus Commodities is a major trader of grains in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Because of the large United States and Canadian grain crops which are exported into world markets each year, it is primarily engaged in the origination of grains for export.
The company operates export grain elevators in Houston, Beaumont and Seattle along with a group of new high-speed grain origination elevators in the Canadian interior. Major North American trading offices are located in Calgary (Canda), Kansas City, Memphis, Minneapolis, Wilton (USA) and Puebla (Mexico).
LDCommodities stands at the forefront of its industry by adding value in the delivery of quality products, risk management, market analysis and timely, professional logistical services, including inventory control.
United States
LDCommodities conducts trading and merchandising activities from its offices in Wilton (Connecticut), Memphis and Kansas City. Its main focus is the origination of grains for export from the Gulf, the West Coast and the East Coast. It has export grain elevators in Houston, Beaumont and Seattle and operates several elevators through CLD Pacific Grain, a joint venture with Cargill. Designed to receive grain via all modes of internal transportation, the facilities feature modern and efficient loading and conveying systems, environmentally friendly controls and practices and thorough quality assurance systems.
Biofuels
In 2006, LDCommodities began construction of a facility southwest of Claypool (Indiana) that will process nearly 50 million bushels of soybeans per year, producing over 1 million tons of soybean meal for livestock and poultry feed and 80 million gallons of biodiesel for blending into motor fuel. This biodiesel plant will be the largest in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Construction is expected to take about 18 months so the plant is expected to begin processing 2007 crop soybeans in early 2008. Additional biofuel assets are being developed in the United States, including an ethanol plant in Norfolk (Nebraska).
Canada
Through an expanding network of strategically located export grain terminals, LD Commodities supplies its customers with the specific products they demand. The combination of facilities is designed to provide specific qualities and quantities of commodities to meet clients’ requirements.
LDCommodities is a major exporter of grains with an extensive base of domestic and international customers. From headquarters in Calgary (Alberta), it manages 10 state-of-the-art, high-speed terminal elevators located in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Mexico
LDCommodities is a leader in the Mexican commodity market, with its principal activity focused upon merchandising feed grains, wheat and oilseeds. Its marketing strength and commercial relationships on a worldwide basis have made it a very competitive merchandiser of these products in Mexico.
